“In this new African renaissance, we place a great deal of emphasis on the presentation of history … In this way, African history can come to guide and direct African action”.

Promoting Nkrumah’s Pan-African Vision

Preserve, Inspire, Empower

We answer Nkrumah’s call for Africa to unite through three foundational pillars designed to turn vision into reality: to Preserve his legacy, Inspire a new generation of Africans, and Empower them to build the sovereign, prosperous future he envisioned.

Pillar I: Preserve

Kwame Nkrumah was not only a leader of action, but also of thought. During his lifetime, he authored 21 books and pamphlets that meticulously articulated his vision, philosophy, and ideology for a liberated Africa. These texts are the foundational blueprints of Pan-Africanism.

Through systematic archiving, documentation, and digitization, we are reclaiming ownership of our history. Our mission is to safeguard Nkrumah’s work and ensure it is accessible to all, connecting Africans everywhere to the ideas that can shape our future.

Today, African history remains largely inaccessible, both on the continent and worldwide. Nkrumah’s own archives are scattered across the globe, often held in private collections far out of reach for the very people whose future they were meant to inspire.

  • Our plan is to reclaim them. Following an extensive scoping exercise, the Foundation will:
  • Physically repatriate Nkrumah’s archives to a permanent home in Africa.
Digitize the complete collection to ensure preservation and universal access.
  • Create an interactive online exhibition to give his legacy a dynamic, global platform.
  • Republish and disseminate selected books and recorded speeches, returning these vital texts to circulation as tools for education and mobilization.

This is both preservation and an act of intellectual sovereignty. By bringing Nkrumah’s words home and placing them in the hands of a new generation, we turn history into a living resource for the future.

Pillar II: Inspire

In its second phase, the Foundation will scale its core mission to produce original media, research, and cultural content that actively promotes Kwame Nkrumah’s vision. By utilizing documentaries, publications, digital series, & strategic communications, we will ensure that African perspectives lead global conversations on development, sovereignty, and Pan-African unity.

Through dynamic storytelling, public dialogue, and accessible media, the Inspire pillar ensures his message reaches new generations and sparks the conversations that will shape Africa’s path forward.

  1. Annual Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Conference: A premier gathering that brings together academics, activists, civil society leaders, and entrepreneurs to critically engage with Nkrumah’s ideas and their relevance to today’s challenges—from sovereignty and Pan-African unity to economic transformation.
  2. Living With Nkrumah: A Memoir, and the Africa Speaks TV Series: In a powerful act of reclamation, Samia Nkrumah shares her father’s story from a perspective never before seen: through the eyes of his daughter. Supported by a collection of letters and archival documents, her intimate memoir reveals the man behind the legend. This groundbreaking narrative will be adapted into Africa Speaks, a major historical drama series for international streaming platforms. Together, these projects will bring Nkrumah’s life, his vision, and his enduring struggle to a global audience, ensuring his revolutionary legacy resonates with a new generation.
  3. Republishing Kwame Nkrumah’s Books: There remains a powerful and growing demand for Nkrumah’s own words. Having already reprinted two of his works in Ghana, the Foundation is scaling production to make his essential texts widely available worldwide—ensuring his revolutionary philosophy is within reach of every seeker, student, and African.

Pillar III: Empower

The Empower pillar is dedicated to equipping the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and organizers with the tools, spaces, and networks to turn vision into reality. We invest in people who will carry Nkrumah’s work forward—from policy and research to grassroots mobilization and community sovereignty.

A Visionary Without Borders

Kwame Nkrumah’s mission was never his alone. It was a collective struggle, forged alongside the world’s most formidable thinkers, revolutionaries, and freedom fighters—from the anti-imperialist movements that shook the Global South to the streets of Accra that lit a continent. Today, the Foundation preserves these moments not as relics of the past, but as the living blueprint for a sovereign, unified Africa that rises by its own self-determination.

Unified Vision for the African Diaspora

The Foundation wants to realize Nkrumah’s Pan-African vision for Africa

Connecting Africans everywhere to his legacy and teachings.

To empower a new generation of Africans everywhere to realize Nkrumah’s vision of a united and sovereign Africa, by turning to the wisdom of our revolutionary ancestors to inform our path forward.

This is Sankofa in motion—the act of reclaiming our history to build our future with clarity and purpose. It is how we remember who we are, and decide who we will become.

Preserve and promote the legacy of Kwame Nkrumah to ensure that future generations can benefit from Nkrumah’s vision of a united and prosperous Africa.

Under the leadership of Samia Nkrumah, the Nkrumah Foundation will tap into this global support and create a permanent home for those who continue to be inspired by Kwame Nkrumah.

  • To archive, digitize, and disseminate Kwame Nkrumah’s work

  • To inspire Africans everywhere to engage with Nkrumah’s vision.

  • To empower emerging leaders to continue his work and uphold his values.

Reclaiming the history
of a leader

Decades after independence, the systems of imperialism and neo-colonialism continue to shape Africa’s present—especially in the struggle over who owns our history.

True sovereignty requires reclaiming our narrative. We must preserve our archives, protect our collective memory, and tell our story in a way that is both authentic to our past and accessible to our future.

This is the urgent work of the Kwame Nkrumah Foundation. We connect Africans everywhere with a Pan-African vision rooted in Nkrumah’s timeless principles: unity, sovereignty, and shared prosperity.
